H-IIA • Himawari-9

JAXA is going to launch new geostationary meteorological satellite for Japanese Ministry of Transport Civil Aviation Bureau & Meteorological Agency. Himawari-9 will be replacement for Himawari-7 launched on 2006. Satellite will be equipped in various instruments like AHI imager for weather watch, NWP cloud tracker or SEDA radiation monitor which will measure level of radiation to which are exposed satellites remaining on GEO. Satellite is based on DS-2000 bus by Mitsubishi Electric and weighs around 3500 kg and will remain operational for 15 years. Satellite will be launched on atop of H-IIA rocket.in 202 version with two SRB-A solid fueled boosters.
