Falcon-9 1.2V • Thaicom-8

Launching Thaicom-8, broadcasting and communication satellite, will be possible for SpaceX due the contract signed in 2014 between Thaicom Public Company Limited and SpaceX. For improving fleet of satellites and to extend range of offered services, Thaicom decided to order in Orbital ATK next communication satellite. It will cover with range of its 24 Ku band transponders following regions: Thailand, Southeast Asia, India and Africa. Based on Geostar-2.3 bus, satellite weighs 3100 kg, it is powered by two deployable solar arrays and has estimated orbital life at 15 years. It will remain on 78.5° East slot along with Thaicom-5 and Thaicom-6. SpaceX planned to use their modified Falcon-9 in 1.2V with improved thrust control and tanks filled with supercooled propellant. Launched delayed for two hours; on May 26, 2016 at 22:48 GMT, launch was postponed for 27th May 2016. Reason was spotting small vibrations in second stage engine actuator.
